"Shaggy vs. Focus" Hna Gonzalez

Hey everyone!

Well, the time finally came. This is my last Tuesday writing home as a missionary. It is a weird feeling to know that my mission has came to an end. I honestly didn't think it would fly by too fast. I love this work. It has been the greatest time sharing the gospel with the people of Guatemala for these past 18 months. I love Guatemala.

I know that this is His church and that I had the greatest opportunity to represent Him and His church for at this time. I know that people can change. I know that the gospel is for everyone. I love the gospel. I love that I had this time to share it and help others love it too. I know that I had the eternities to prepare for this time. I will have the eternities to remember my mission. But I only had 18 months to live it. If you are going on a mission or are on your mission, enjoy it but in the Lord's way not in your way.

Ya casí

Hey everyone!

I just want everyone to know how much I love this gospel and this time that I have had to serve the Lord and His people here in Guatemala. I am super happy!

"Broken bows litter the landscapes of our lives, representing yesterday's frustrations. These were real enough at the moment. Dotting the same landscape, however, are many more reminders of blessings, than of discarded broken bows. May we have the eyes to see that which an outisde auditor would surely see as he counts our blessings."

Remember to look for the miracles every day!

17 months in the mission

Hey everyone!

I am happy here working in San Lucas! The Lord is so merciful with us. We have been able to see quite a few miracles this week! Hermanita Ana got baptized this past Sunday! We are working with some really cool investigators and are hoping to see progress real soon.

Stay tuned!

6..5..4..3..2..1

Hey everyone!

Well, these past few weeks have been crazy, full of divisions and conferences. I am in my last transfer... My companion, Hna Rotellini, finished her mission and today she flew back to the Dominican Republic. I have a new companion, Hna Gonzalez. We are in San Lucas Toliman. She is the sweetest thing. She will be my last companion #12. She is from Nicaragua and has 15 months in the field. We are working hard and finding miracles. I love my mountains so much. My companion has never been to the mountains, so I am teaching her how to work here. We had a devotional with Elder Zeballos, which was awesome. I will write more about it later.

I can't talk too much about the Volcano erruptions. I am safe though. Pray for Guatemala please (:

A week full of miracles

Hey everyone!

I am a very happy missionary! This week was amazing. The Spirit was felt so strong during small and big things all week. The past weekend Sololá became a Stake. The Lord's work is hastening and I am glad I had/have the opportunity to participate in it. I don't think I saw anyone without a smile that day. I also got to see members from El Mirador, Sololá. Reunions are my absolute favorite. Hno Raul got baptized this past Friday. He has changed for the better and is excited for his new adventure living the gospel. After his baptism, he testified about how happy he was to have this change and the support the members gave him. People can change if we love them enough so they will want to change. We also had divisions with the Hermanas from El Mirador. I stayed here in San Lucas, but Hna Maldonado, my companion before, came so that was fun. I loved a part of the conference when Elder Pineda said that creating this Stake would diminish the power of Satan (AKA more reactivation, retention and baptisms.) Pte Cluff already has the goal of dividing it into 2 stakes. We have to have high goals (:

I love you all!

Lots of Traveling

Hey everyone!

This week was a crazy, fun week and I don't remember a lot of what happened. We travelled a lot this week from Leadership Council to divisions. I am doing good. I love missionary work and being a missionary. We have quite a few investigators progressing and an investigator that will get baptized this Sunday. Sololà will become a stake this Sunday and I am so excited. This is the Lord`s work and we have to work in His way. It doesn`t matter our calling or situation we have been called to establish the church. We have been called to minister the way Christ taught us. (Mark 10:17-21) "Entonces Jesùs, mirandole, le amò." We should seek out those that need this love. The best way is through ministering.

Love you all! Have a great week!

Saturday Night Surprise

Hey everyone!

On Saturday night, President called me to serve and finish my mission as a Sister Training Leader. The big surprise is that I have been called to serve as the STL in San Lucas Toliman, Sololá (the other side of the lake.) I am super excited for these new changes and to keep working in the Lord's work here in Guatemala. I will also have the opportunity to be here when Sololá becomes a Stake the 12th and 13th of May. My new companion is Hermana Rotellini from the Republica Dominicana. She is awesome. She will finish her mission in June (6 weeks left!)

Alma 26
37 Now my brethren, we see that God is mindful of every people, whatsoever land they may be in; yea, he numbereth his people, and his bowels of mercy are over all the earth. Now this is my joy, and my great thanksgiving; yea, and I will give thanks unto my God forever. Amen.

I love you all!

My beloved Sololà

Buenas!

First things first: The most exciting news of the week.. Sololà is going to be a stake. After 38 years of praying that this District could become a Stake, it will happen on May 13th. We are exceeding.

I am doing great. I love the mission. I love missionary work. I was reading in Preach My Gospel this past week and came across the First Presidency Message that explains my whole mission. "More happiness awaits you than you have ever experienced as you labor among His children." I have felt this happiness and more love during these past 15 months. I am not perfect, but I am trying to be better while serving Him and His children.

Sololà's Pioneer

Buenas!

I want to start off saying that I love El Mirador, Sololà. This week we did a few fun service projects. There is a sister in our area that was one of the first members here in Sololà. Now there are three branches just here in Sololà and will be a Stake soon! The sister is Hermana Ana, or abuelita. Her husband passed away about 2 weeks ago so we showed up to cheer her up a little. We painted her nails, tried on her corte, and just were there for company and jokes.

This weekend will be a special weekend. We have a baptism prepared. There is General Conference, my favorite weekend 2 times a year. During General Conference, we will have the opportunity to sustain our beloved prophet, Russell M Nelson. I invite everyone to watch general conference as well as have 3 questions that you would like to be answered of any topic. I promise you that you will receive your answers in different ways during the conference through the Holy Ghost.

"God does notice us, and he watches over us. But it is usually through another person that he meets our needs." Spencer W. Kimball

Miracles Exist

Buenas!

Things are going well here in El Mirador. We saw a miracle this past Sunday. We passed by all the investigators we could to bring them to church, but they weren't home or said they couldn't. We were near the house of a convert that hasn't been to church these past 2 Sundays so we stopped by to see if she would come to church. We were able to bring her to church and as we were sitting in the reunion her older brother (convert as well) showed up with their younger brother (not a member.) We were so happy and are going to fijar la fecha with him for the 31st. During the week, we finished a service project early and still had time before lunch. There is a less active in our area that we always pass by to find, because his wife and kids aren't members. We felt that we should go pass by before heading to lunch. We found him and made an appointment to visit their family today. The father of the family (less active) said he would go to church this Sunday so we will see if he will bring his family.

Moroni 7:29
And because he hath done this, my beloved brethren, have miracles ceased? Behold I say unto you, Nay; neither have angels ceased to minister unto the children of men.

con amor,
Hermana Tibbits

Hermana Tibbits is going to... stay in El Mirador

Buenas!

Well, I will be staying in El Mirador, Sololá for another transfer with my companion. I love this area so much. There are so many miracles here and the members are awesome. This past week we got to shake hands and listen to Elder Cook talk. That was the highlight of my week. Something that he said that stuck out to me is that we all said "yes" to serve the Lord in some way.
I have been trying to finish the Book of Mormon before Easter and I loved this scripture, so I thought I would share it (:

Alma 29
9 I know that which the Lord hath commanded me, and I glory in it. I do not glory of myself, but I glory in that which the Lord hath commanded me; yea, and this is my glory, that perhaps I may be an instrument in the hands of God to bring some soul to repentance; and this is my joy.

13 months but who's counting?

Buenos!

Pues, this week the Avendaño family got baptized on the 14th of February! We woke up at 2 am on the 14th to go to a multi-zone conference in San Lucas (we live the farthest away). The Elders made fun of us, because we brought the baptism clothes with us (thinking we wouldn't arrive in time.) We were nervous about getting back home before 5:30 pm. Luckily, we got home at 4:20 pm. We stopped by and helped them get ready and we all headed to the church. I have never been so happy. It was amazing to see one by one enter into this special covenant with our Heavenly Father. There was a fiesta here in Sololà and I am sure there was a fiesta in Heaven as well. Right now, we are working with some investigators and looking to find some new ones.

I was reading a conference talk this past week and I really liked two quotes that was that were stated:

"Look at my life now and compare it to my former life. You will see that I am trying to live out the truth I proclaim." Leo Tolstoy

"Do not gloat, but give your help to anyone trying to walk the road back to God."

As missionaries and members, we are nowhere close to perfect, but if we try to live the doctrine we will become more like our Savior. I challenge each of you to reflect on the changes each of you have had and the changes you all would like to have. And always, help the missionaries help others come unto Christ.

Con amor,
Hermana Tibbits
